Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

Following a clinical review of our first project The Children's Health Centre in Tallinding, the Trustees felt we would benefit from the support of clinical advisors based in The Gambia. So, who better to fill this role than the two nurses who ran the Health Centre, Chernor and Lamin. They have not disappointed and they continue to inspire and support us in our work.

Meet The Team

Chernor H JALLOW

Chernor H JALLOW has been a Clinical Advisor to the Trustees (CAT) for nearly five years. Chernor became known to the Trustees through his work at the Tallinding Children’s Health Centre, the aidgambiaTCHC 5 year Project 2013-18.

Recent News...

Chernor recently successfully completed a Masters in Public Heath following his studies in China. He sent us this message....

"I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Allah for making it possible and all those who contributed to the successful completion of this thesis.

On leaving the Tallinding Children's Health Centre he went on to work for the Ministry of Health. His position in the Ministry is Programme Officer in the Directorate of Public Health Services (DPHS).

In his role as CAT he acts as the eyes and ears for the Trustees and as advisor on health-related matters. He also charts and confirms the progress of the studies of the Bendon Bursary recipients (The Bursarians).

Lamin NIJE

Lamin NJIE is a Clinical Advisor to the Trustees (CAT). In this role he acts as the eyes and ears in The Gambia for the Trustees and as advisor on health-related matters. He also charts and confirms the progress of the studies of the Bendon Bursary recipients (The Bursarians)

The Trustees met Lamin many years ago when he was working at the Tallinding Children’s Health Centre - the aidgambiaTCHC 5 year Project 2013-18. Since July 2023 he has been working at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (EFSTH) Cardiology Unit at Banjul Hospital as a member of a handpicked team of five nurses (there were 160 applicants!). He is the founder of Japalleh Healthcare Foundation, an NGO Charity. Lamin was a keen footballer and is heavily involved in the running and organisation of the famous Yarambamba Football Academy. In his role as CAT he has organised the two aidgambiaTCHC Youth Health Cup matches held in April 2022 and November 2023, held at the FIFA Goal Project, to promote health awareness among the Gambian youth.
